News Overview of the social and humanitarian situation

The following events have become important for the Republic this week.

The defenders of Donbass continue to denazify the terrorists from the AFU on all fronts. The position of the Ukrainian army is especially deteriorating in the Artemovsk direction. Thanks to the competent actions of our soldiers, they managed to completely liberate the settlements of Krasnaya Gora and Novobakhmutovka.

Another important event was the return from Ukrainian captivity of more than a hundred Russian servicemen, including our countrymen. The fighters were taken to Moscow by planes of military transport aviation for treatment and rehabilitation. At the moment they are receiving the necessary medical and psychological assistance. Soon our defenders will be able to return home to their families and friends, continuing rehabilitation in Donbass.

An extremely important decision in the context of the armed conflict was the approval by the State Duma of the Russian Federation of the possibility of transferring demobilized students of Donbass to budget-funded educational programme. So, now the guys will be able to transfer from the contractual basis of the education to the budget. Relevant amendments to the law on the peculiarities of legal regulation of relations in the fields of education and science were adopted this week.

Another measure of support for our defenders is the cultural environment. It is for this purpose that the Honoured State Academic Song and Dance Ensemble “Donbass” will perform in the Kremlin Palace at an evening before the participants of the Special Military Operation.

However, our compatriots will surprise Russian regions not only in the cultural, but also in the sports sphere. Thus, wrestlers from the DPR went to the Nizhny Novgorod region for the All-Russian Greco-Roman wrestling competitions. The Republic will be represented by ten athletes. In total, over 250 wrestlers from different regions of the Russian Federation will take part in the competition.

Since the beginning of 2023, the Ombudsman received 3300 complaints.

  1. Death toll and injuries to civilians and soldiers as a result of hostilities in the territory of the Donetsk People`s Republic

The DPR Ombudsman’s Office documents cases of violations of Donbass citizens’ rights by the Ukrainian side, including the right to life, personal integrity and freedom of movement.

2. Register of displaced persons and affected citizens

At the time of armed conflict, the civilian population living in the zone of fighting and near the contact line is often affected. With the view to protect the human right to life and security of the person, and to provide assistance to victims as a result of armed aggression by Ukraine, there social facilities (dormitories, preventative clinics, health care centres).

In accordance with the Order of the Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic No. 137 of 24.04.2018, territorial commissions in cities and districts are now responsible for accommodating affected civilians. They work under the supervision of the Republican Commission on Resettlement of Affected Persons chaired by the DPR Human Rights Ombudsman.
