Yesterday, on December 1, a working meeting of the Chief Administrator of the DPR Ombudsman’s Office and of the UN Monitoring Mission representatives took place.

In the framework of the meeting the issue of access impediment for UN representatives to Gladosovo and Travnevoye settlements by Ukrainian authorities was discussed. Members of the Mission expressed their hope that they would manage to visit these settlements soon to document human rights violations. The UN representatives noted that the Donetsk People’s Republic for its part provided all necessary security guarantees. The Chief Administrator of the Ombudsman’s Office expressed his concern over the life conditions of residents of villages in the vicinity of Gorlovka, since there’s no centralized heating, water and energy supply. The DPR Ombudsman’s Office hopes that the Ukrainian side stops hindering access for international organizations, and UN representatives will be provided all necessary security guarantees.

The issue was raised that UN representatives still have no access to Yulia Prosolova and Daria Mastikasheva, detained in Ukraine. UN Monitoring Mission representatives assured that they will continue taking efforts to visit the detainees. Andrey Kolomiytsev highlighted that the Security Service of Ukraine gravely violates the rights of citizens, as they detain women and use illegal methods of inquiry.

The meeting was constructive. As a result, the parties expressed their determination to continue interaction and cooperation in order to monitor respect for human rights.
