Zelensky deprived civilian population of Ukraine of “immunity” granted by IV Geneva Convention – Daria Morozova

Comments and statements of the Ombudsman News

While the armed forces of the Russian Federation are making every effort not to harm the civilian population during the special operation to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine, the Kiev authorities purposefully involve civilians in hostilities.

Ukrainian politicians urge the population to start an open confrontation with professional military personnel. Tens of thousands of people received machine guns. Even women and children are hastily taught how to handle weapons. Instructions on blocking the movement of military special equipment, the recipe for a Molotov cocktail are distributed in publics. Knowing about the priority task of preserving the civilian population, which is set before the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the national battalions forcibly keep civilians in combat zones.

But this, as it turned out, is not the limit of the cynicism and cruelty of the Kiev regime. The law “On ensuring the participation of civilians in the defense of Ukraine” adopted by the Verkhovna Rada and signed by Zelensky came into force. The document legalized the use of firearms and ammunition by civilians (including foreigners) on the territory of the state, and also abolished responsibility for these actions.

It is clear to any sane person what devastating consequences this step will lead to. Violence, robberies, looting, which have already become a Ukrainian reality, will engulf the country.

However, something else is much worse. By this act, the Ukrainian authorities equated the entire civilian population staying in the country today with military personnel. This means that they removed innocent people from the protection provided to the civilian population in accordance with the provisions of the Fourth Geneva Convention.

It is difficult to comment on what is happening without emotions. Having survived eight years of the conflict in Donbass, we have no illusions about the humanism of the Kiev authorities. But if they killed the inhabitants of the Republics, hiding behind anti-terrorist slogans and Russophobic ideals, then how can they explain the destruction of their own people?

This is the face of modern fascism. And there is no doubt that the people of Ukraine need help and protection more than ever. The world community does not give an adequate response to what is happening that once again proves the timeliness and necessity of the special operation carried out by the armed forces of the Russian Federation. I call on the citizens of Ukraine not to succumb to the provocations of the criminal Ukrainian authorities.
