Since 2014, we have known how cruelly prisoners are treated in Ukraine. Beatings, torture with water or using electricity, hanging, humiliation… But during the SMO, we faced a new kind of torment. Now in the Ukrainian dungeons they mock the wounded. Not only do they don’t provide proper medical care to the prisoners, they aggravate their pain in every possible way.
In the video Boris Yavorsky, a resident of Makeyevka, who was released as a result of the exchange on December 1, 2022. He is tanker and was captured by the enemy after the battle. He was injured and was in critical condition. Despite this, the punishers continued to torture the man, including scratching open wounds by a knife.
It is difficult to comment following a diplomatic language… It should be noted that such actions are a gross violation of the Geneva Convention of August 12, 1949 on the treatment of prisoners of war. Its articles, in particular, establish the principles of humane treatment of prisoners and the obligation to provide them with the necessary medical assistance.
This is a war crime for which the perpetrators must be punished.
