Today, on August 20, the Coordinator of the Humanitarian Subgroup Tony Frisch met the relatives of persons held by the Ukrainian side. People who had been released from Ukrainian captivity as a result of the exchange also participated.
The issues such as unsatisfactory detention conditions in penitentiary institutions of Ukraine, poor medical care, unlawful methods of interrogation and unwillingness of Ukrainian representatives to officially confirm the presence of people on their territory were discussed. Persons released from captivity asked questions about the Ukrainian party’s failure to comply with the procedure and terms of detention without bringing charges.
The exchange date was the key issue. Unfortunately, the detainees’ relatives couldn’t get any clear response.
