The OSCE Coordinator of the Humanitarian Subgroup of the Contact Group Toni Frisch has held a meeting with authorities of one of the Donetsk remand prisons where Ukrainian servicemen are in custody, DAN correspondent reports.
Acting director of the facility Alexey Mazchenko and DPR Ombudsman Daria Morozova participated in the meeting.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to visit the remand prison, we are going to interview the detainees. We have already visited some of them, and the others will be interviewed for the first time,” Frisch said.
These visits are aimed at documenting detention conditions of the POWs, he added. “It is important that we can talk confidentially to the detainees on both sides of the contact line,” stressed Mr. Frisch.
Mazchenko said that decent conditions are provided for all Ukrainian servicemen. “They are in the same conditions as all other inmates. They receive seasonal clothes, three meals a day, sanitary treatment, and daily walks. All the requirements are met,” the director of SIZO added.
