This quarter Ombudsman Office inspects 13 child welfare centres

Human Rights Ombudsman Office in the Donetsk People’s Republic took stock of the inspections held in child welfare institutions of the Republic (children’s homes, child welfare centres and boarding schools) to evaluate living and education environment created for children.

During the last quarter, staff of DPR Ombudsman Office together with representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Health and the State Service for Family and Children of the Donetsk People’s Republic conducted 13 inspections.

As a result, no violations have been found during the checks. Education and living environment for children were positively assessed by representatives of the DPR Ombudsman Office. In some cases, however, particular recommendations were submitted to related ministries and administrations.

This practice was initiated by the DPR Human Rights Ombudsman Daria Morozova in order to ensure state protection of children’s rights and freedoms. This year, the Ombudsman Office is going to continue carrying out inspection of education and living environment in child welfare centres of the Republic. Thus, on 22 and 24 January 2019, representatives of the Ombudsman Office visited Makeevka Special General Education Boarding School No.35 and Makeevka Special General Education Boarding School No.36.
