This week has been marked by a truly historic event. Thus, the Central Electoral Commissions of the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions announced the data, according to which the majority of residents living in these territories supported on the referendums the accession of their regions to Russia.
Now, the leaders of the regions are in Moscow to complete the legal procedure for joining the Russian Federation, which is taking place today in the Georgievsky Hall of the Grand Kremlin Palace. As part of the event, a speech by Russian President Vladimir Putin is also expected.
This day marks the beginning of a new path for Donbass as part of its historical homeland. The Republic, being a subject of the Russian Federation, should become the vanguard and a new axis of the world, which values are built on the principles of justice and respect for human rights.
Of course, this fact directly contradicts the practices of Nazism and terror implanted by the Kyiv regime for 8 years that have been settled on the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. Criminals from the ranks of the AFU, unable to interfere with the historical process of the reunification of the DPR with Russia, are trying to intimidate the population by shelling peaceful cities. Thus, during the referendum, militants fired at the centre of Donetsk. One of the shells hit a residential building. Also, once again, PFM-1 mines prohibited by the Ottawa Treaty were scattered in the capital of the Republic. In total, more than 70 civilians have become victims of this type of ammunition.
In turn, the defenders of Donbass continue to liberate the territory of the DPR from the invaders. As of today, the offensive of the joint forces in the Artemovsk direction is actively continuing. Defensive operations are also underway in the Krasny Liman area.
However, despite Kyiv’s attempts to destabilize the situation, the Republic continues to develop, including in the natural and environmental sphere. Thus, by the Decree of the Head on the territory of the DPR, the ‘Donetsk Steppe’ nature reserve and the ‘Meotida’ National Park were approved. From now on, these reserves are specially protected natural areas. Such initiatives should contribute to the improvement of the ecological and tourist situation in the Republic.
Since the beginning of 2022, the Ombudsman received 23877 complaints.
- Death toll and injuries to civilians and soldiers as a result of hostilities in the territory of the Donetsk People`s Republic
The DPR Ombudsman’s Office documents cases of violations of Donbass citizens’ rights by the Ukrainian side, including the right to life, personal integrity and freedom of movement.
2. Register of displaced persons and affected citizens
At the time of armed conflict, the civilian population living in the zone of fighting and near the contact line is often affected. With the view to protect the human right to life and security of the person, and to provide assistance to victims as a result of armed aggression by Ukraine, there social facilities (dormitories, preventative clinics, health care centres).
In accordance with the Order of the Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic No. 137 of 24.04.2018, territorial commissions in cities and districts are now responsible for accommodating affected civilians. They work under the supervision of the Republican Commission on Resettlement of Affected Persons chaired by the DPR Human Rights Ombudsman.
