The following significant events for the residents of the Republic took place this week.
On July 27, actions dedicated to the Remembrance Day of the Children Victims in Donbass were held in all cities of the DPR. Traditionally, the memorial complex “Alley of Angels” in Donetsk has become the main place to perpetuate the memory of the children who were killed by the AFU. Commemorative events were also held in other regions of the Russian Federation.
This date has been held for the second year already and was established by Decree of the Head of the DPR Denis Pushilin No. 375 dated July 11, 2022.
However, even such a day of mourning did not stop Ukrainian militants from shelling the cities of the Republic. Thus, two children born in 2006 and 2008 were wounded as a result of an attack by the AFU in the Kirovsky district of Donetsk.
This crime against civilians is nothing more than another proof of the weakness of Ukraine, which over and over again suffers defeats from the soldiers of the SMO. In the north of Donbass, the Russian army managed to take control of a number of settlements, namely Nadia, Sergeyevka and Novoegorovka. Our defenders continue to attack the enemy in all directions.
The week was not without good news in the humanitarian and educational field. The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia has decided to restore about 240 objects of higher educational institutions and scientific institutions of the DPR by 2025. This is an extremely important initiative that will allow our young generation to return to face-to-face education in revamped classrooms as soon as the security situation in the region allows.
Since the beginning of 2023, the Ombudsman received 13819 complaints.
- Death toll and injuries to civilians and soldiers as a result of hostilities in the territory of the Donetsk People`s Republic
The DPR Ombudsman’s Office documents cases of violations of Donbass citizens’ rights by the Ukrainian side, including the right to life, personal integrity and freedom of movement.
2. Register of displaced persons and affected citizens
At the time of armed conflict, the civilian population living in the zone of fighting and near the contact line is often affected. With the view to protect the human right to life and security of the person, and to provide assistance to victims as a result of armed aggression by Ukraine, there social facilities (dormitories, preventative clinics, health care centers).
In accordance with the Order of the Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic No. 137 of 24.04.2018, territorial commissions in cities and districts are now responsible for accommodating affected civilians. They work under the supervision of the Republican Commission on Resettlement of Affected Persons chaired by the DPR Human Rights Ombudsman.
