The overview of the current social and humanitarian situation in the territory of the Donetsk People`s Republic as a result of hostilities in the period 09 to 15 July 2022

News Overview of the social and humanitarian situation

This week was marked by one of the most significant events in the history of our young state.

The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea recognized the Donetsk People’s Republic. This political decision will become the basis for the further development of relations in the economic sphere, and will further strengthen the status of our young state. Earlier, the sovereignty of the DPR was already recognized by the Russian Federation and Syria.

Another important diplomatic victory was the official opening of the Embassy of the Donetsk People’s Republic in Russia. Now citizens of the Republic will be able to apply for the necessary help and advice at the following address: Moscow, Grokholsky lane, 13.

However, because of the diplomatic successes of the Republic, Kyiv demonstrated the most cynical reaction on July 14th. The AFU militants launched artillery strikes on one of the largest bus stations in Donetsk “Center”, located in the Voroshilovsky district of the city. As a result of the shelling, two civilians were killed, another 6 sustained injuries of varying severity.

Despite the terrorist attacks, the operation on the liberation of Donbass continues. According to the latest data, 251 settlements have already been liberated in the DPR by the joint forces of the SMO, including Novodonetskoye, Neskuchnoye, Oktyabr, Mironovka, Krasny Pakhar, Roty, Vidrodzhennya, Mednaya Ruda and Kamenka. Fighting is underway in the vicinity of Slavyansk and Avdeevka.

Another important and necessary event for the state was the decision of the Head of the DPR to establish the Day of Remembrance of the Children Victims of the War in Donbass. The corresponding decree No. 375 has already been published on the official website of the leader of the state.

In addition, an organizing committee has been created to prepare and hold events for the Day of Remembrance of the Children Victims of the War in Donbass. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the DPR Natalya Nikanorova was appointed its chairman. It also included representatives of the administration of the Head, ministries and departments, deputies and public figures of the Republic.

This memorable date will henceforth take place on July 27 and is aimed at perpetuating the memory of the dead children, as well as drawing the attention of the international community to war crimes by the Kyiv regime against the civilian population of Donbass.

Since the beginning of 2022, the Ombudsman received 16407 complaints.

  1. Death toll and injuries to civilians and soldiers as a result of hostilities in the territory of the Donetsk People`s Republic

The DPR Ombudsman’s Office documents cases of violations of Donbass citizens’ rights by the Ukrainian side, including the right to life, personal integrity and freedom of movement.

2. Register of displaced persons and affected citizens

At the time of armed conflict, the civilian population living in the zone of fighting and near the contact line is often affected. With the view to protect the human right to life and security of the person, and to provide assistance to victims as a result of armed aggression by Ukraine, there social facilities (dormitories, preventative clinics, health care centres).

In accordance with the Order of the Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic No. 137 of 24.04.2018, territorial commissions in cities and districts are now responsible for accommodating affected civilians. They work under the supervision of the Republican Commission on Resettlement of Affected Persons chaired by the DPR Human Rights Ombudsman.
