The overview of the current social and humanitarian situation in the territory of the Donetsk People`s Republic as a result of hostilities in the period 04 to 10 June 2022

News Overview of the social and humanitarian situation

Unfortunately, past week was one of the toughest for Republics. Armed formations of Ukraine, anticipating their imminent defeat, are making desperate attempts to vent their anger on the civilian population…

Only for the period from June 4 to June 5, 641 pieces of ammunition were fired by the AFU on the central districts of Donetsk. In particular, fire was from the MLRS ‘Uragan’ and ‘Grad’, 155, 152 and 122 mm artillery, 120 and 82 mm mortars. Dozens of civilians were injured.

However, the enemy doesn’t have much time to feel his own impunity. Thus, the combined forces within the framework of the special military operation liberated 11 more settlements over the past week. In total, at the moment the DPR has established full control over 235 settlements, including Trypillia, Vladimirovka (Artemovsky district), Stavki and Lipovoe (Krasnolimansky district). The offensive began in the direction of Slavyansk.

In turn, while the remnants of the AFU forces are retreating, trials of captured mercenaries sponsored by the Kyiv regime are being held in the Republic. On June 9, the Appellate Chamber of the DPR Supreme Court sentenced three foreign mercenaries, who fought on the side of the armed formations of Ukraine, to death. The convicts are British citizens Shaun Pinner and Aiden Aslin, as well as Moroccan citizen Saadoun Brahim, who served in the 36th Separate Marine Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and participated in hostilities in Donbass until they were captured by the combined forces of the DPR DPM and PF DM. Their verdict will be a warning to all those who decided to cash in on the murder of civilians in the DPR.

However, even despite the difficult military-political situation, the Republic continues to live and develop.

The DPR is actively preparing to celebrate the Day of Russia. The start of this most important day for all the peoples of Russia was given by the festival “Days of Russia in Donbass”. Thus, artists from the Russian Federation have already performed with concerts in the settlements: Volodarskoye, Novoazovsk, Snezhnoye, Shakhtersk and Kirovskoye. Grigory Leps, Alexander Marshal, Dmitry Dyuzhev, Rodion Gazmanov, Denis Maidanov, Jasmine and others were among the artists who took part in the concerts.

Since the beginning of 2022, the Ombudsman received 12501 complaints.

  1. Death toll and injuries to civilians and soldiers as a result of hostilities in the territory of the Donetsk People`s Republic

The DPR Ombudsman’s Office documents cases of violations of Donbass citizens’ rights by the Ukrainian side, including the right to life, personal integrity and freedom of movement.

  1. Register of the prisoners of war, missing soldiers and civilians

  1. Register of displaced persons and affected citizens

At the time of armed conflict, the civilian population living in the zone of fighting and near the contact line is often affected. With the view to protect the human right to life and security of the person, and to provide assistance to victims as a result of armed aggression by Ukraine, there social facilities (dormitories, preventative clinics, health care centres).

In accordance with the Order of the Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic No. 137 of 24.04.2018, territorial commissions in cities and districts are now responsible for accommodating affected civilians. They work under the supervision of the Republican Commission on Resettlement of Affected Persons chaired by the DPR Human Rights Ombudsman.
