Statement from Daria Morozova on the eve of Minsk talks

Comments and statements of the Ombudsman News

The next meeting of the Humanitarian Subgroup in the Minsk format is scheduled for Wednesday, 25 July. At the meeting, we are going to discuss the issues related to the prisoner exchange, the return of documents to people who have been released earlier, and the issue of joint efforts to search for missing persons.

The prisoner exchange in the format “all confirmed for all confirmed” remains the main issue of the meeting of the Humanitarian Subgroup. We have high expectations for this meeting. Almost a month has passed since the previous meeting of the humanitarian subgroup and we expect that the Ukrainian side might have prepared their official position for this issue. I underline that we haven’t received any written position on any of the points of the agenda.

Another important task is to address the issue of the search for missing persons. I hope that the mechanism of joint search will be duly addressed at the meeting. I remind that the roadmap on this issue has long been developed. However, we cannot start to carry it out due to flimsy reasons of the Ukrainian side.
