Statement from Daria Morozova on persecution of DPR supporter’s family by SBU

Comments and statements of the Ombudsman Detention News

Ukrainian authorities keep demonstrating their neglect of the rights and freedoms of peaceful citizens. Thus, they use methods of physical and psychological influence to obtain the necessary information, as well as pressure on relatives of DPR supporters living in Ukraine. Such actions on the part of the Ukrainian security forces negate all the reconciliation efforts made.

A DPR supporter Dymarchuk Aleksei Ivanovich, born in 1984, turned to the Human Rights Ombudsman in the Donetsk People’s Republic for legal protection and assistance in ensuring the safety of his family. The applicant pointed out that the SBU officers exerted psychological pressure on his family members. His mother, father, sister, son and ex-spouse were exposed to unlawful persecution.

In order to ensure the safety of Alexei Dymarchuk’s family, I sent letters to the ICRC and the OSCE.

We urge international organizations to give a proper legal assessment of the actions of representatives of Ukrainian law enforcement agencies. We remind you that this was not an isolated incident of using illegal methods of influencing relatives of DPR supporters residing in Ukraine.
