Statement from Daria Morozova following resignation of Irina Gerashchenko

Comments and statements of the Ombudsman News

The decision of Irina Gerashchenko to leave the posts of the authorized representative of the President of Ukraine for peaceful settlement and a representative of Ukraine in the Humanitarian Subgroup in Minsk was a logical consequence of the political processes associated with the change of power in Ukraine. The team of Petro Poroshenko has completely discredited itself not only in the domestic policy, but also at the Minsk negotiating platform.

Over the past few years, the Ukrainian side has demonstrated a complete lack of political will to peacefully resolve the conflict in the territory of Donbass. The complete disregard of working meetings in Minsk by the official representative of Ukraine and her futile attempts to manipulate the negotiation process did not contribute to the solution of problems faced by the Humanitarian Subgroup that are vital to citizens on both sides of the contact line.

At the same time, the Donetsk People’s Republic reiterates its readiness for a peaceful and constructive dialogue for an early and comprehensive solution to all humanitarian issues envisaged by the Package of Measures for the implementation of the Minsk Agreements.
