Staff of Ombudsman Office attend plenary meeting of People’s Council

On 5 October, representatives of Ombudsman Office in the Donetsk People’s Republic attended a plenary meeting of the autumn session People’s Council. As a result of the voting, a number of draft laws aimed at improvement of the current legislation of the Republic were approved.

After two readings, a bill of Interim Head of the DPR Denis Pushilin No. 42- IHC of 24.04.2015 “On social protection of families of persons killed in defence of the Donetsk People’s Republic”. Under the new legislation, one family member of a person killed defending the Donetsk People’s Republic from Ukrainian aggression has the right to a privilege in the form of exemption from utility fees. It is worth noting in this respect that a widow (widower), parents, children, and victim’s dependants are considered a victim’family members. The procedure for this privilege will be further clarified by the DPR Council of Ministers.

Also, after two readings, the deputies voted for a bill developed by the People’s Council Committee on Health, Mother and Child Care and the Ministry of Health, named “On Amending the Law of the Donetsk People’s Republic No. 42-IHC  of 24.04.2015 “On health care”. The proposed amendments are aimed at modernization of governing public relations in health care.

In addition, a legislative initiative for improvement of availability of immunoprophylaxis of infectious diseases for DPR citizens. According to the draft law “On amending Articles 5 and 10 of the Law of the Donetsk People’s Republic No. 90-IHC of 04.09.2015 “On immunoprophylaxis of infectious diseases”, DPR citizens will be eligible for vaccination, undergo a medical examination and treatment in healthcare institutions regardless of their form of ownership, provided that the institution meets the necessary licensing requirements.

The above-mentioned bills are pending the signature of the interim Head of the DPR and come into force from the day of official publication in the official website of the DPR People’s Council.
