I was deeply shocked to know about the death of Mikhail Tolstykh, a prominent commander and a remarkable person.
When the war started in Donbass, Mikhail took responsibility to protect the native land and its citizens. Since then he dedicated himself to service to the Motherland. A good commander, he fought in the most important hot spots, he was engaged in the hardest combat operations and always gained victory. When Ilovaisk, his hometown, was occupied by enemy, Mikhail led the successful operation on surrounding and defeated Ukrainian forces. He also was first in line during the airport fighting, other soldiers followed him.
Not only was he a wise commander, but also a reliable person. The DPR citizens were always welcome to ask him for help, and Givi supported them personally. With his courage and dedication he won the hearts of many.
The heroic commander didn’t lose his life in combat, he was caught off guard by the ignoble acts of the adversary. This is one more proof that our opponents have neither principles nor humanity in the battle in Donbass.
I would like to express my condolences to Mikhail’s relatives, friends and fellows. The Republic is mourning with you. May his blessed memory live forever in our hearts. He was an honoured son of our land and an example to us all.
