Representatives of the Ombudsman regularly attend court hearings in DPR

The DPR Ombudsman regularly monitors the observance of procedural rights of trial participants through the staff of the Ombudsman office who attend the hearings.

In accordance with paragraph 8, part 1, Article 11 of the Law of the DPR No. 30-INS of 03.04.2015 “On the Human Rights Ombudsman in the Donetsk People’s Republic”, the Ombudsman is authorized to attend the hearings of courts of all instances with the consent of a legal person for the benefit of whom the trial was declared closed.

However, we draw your attention to the fact that the representatives of the Ombudsman are not the subjects of trial, their presence at a hearing does not and shall not influence the court’s decision on a case, since the Ombudsman is not authorized to interfere with the procedural activities of the court or to give any recommendation to the judges in the administration of justice.

The one may file an application with the Ombudsman specifying the place, date and time of a hearing if he\she wishes that Ombudsman representatives attend the hearing.
