Representatives of the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatyana Moskalkova arrived in the DPR with a humanitarian mission. Today, on July 20, 2022, as part of the action of the Ombudsman of the Russian Federation “From Heart to Heart”, more than 6 tons targeted assistance was delivered to healthcare and social institutions of the DPR by human rights activists.
The humanitarian cargo was collected according to the list of urgent needs, which was formed with the assistance of the DPR Ombudsman Daria Morozova. The action was attended by the Fund for Support and Assistance to Children named after Primakov, the “Planet” Fund, the “Renaissance and Hope” Fund.
The cargo included technical means of rehabilitation, clothing, pillows, blankets, mattresses, food, household chemicals, hygiene products, etc. This is the most necessary thing – exactly what people asked for.
Assistance was provided to patients of the Republican Trauma Center and the Republican Children’s Clinical Hospital in Donetsk, the Clinical Mining Hospital in Makeyevka, as well as citizens living in a temporary accommodation centre (TAC) in the city of Shakhtyorsk.
It is symbolic that the start of the mission was given on July 18 at the sculptural composition “Justice and Mercy” by Zurab Tsereteli, located on the territory of the House of Human Rights in Moscow. An open heart, in which the bells of indifference and compassion sound, is a symbol of the human rights institution of the Russian Federation and the importance of a caring attitude to the needs of people. As Tatyana Moskalkova emphasized, in the current difficult situation, supporting their brothers and sisters – residents of Donbass is a priority for human rights activists.
It should be noted that during the visit to the Republic, representatives of the Ombudsman of the Russian Federation also plan to visit Mariupol, where they will get acquainted with the social and humanitarian situation in the city.
It should be reminded that on March 4, 2022, Ombudsman of the Russian Federation Tatyana Moskalkova signed agreements of mutual understanding with Ombudsmen of the DPR and LPR Daria Morozova and Victoria Serdyukova. This marked the beginning of a large joint work in the field of human rights protection, and made it possible to increase the guarantees of observance of human rights. It also opened up new opportunities for providing comprehensive assistance to people who are on the territory of the Russian Federation, and those who live in the DPR and LPR, including Russian citizens.
