Representatives of Human Rights Ombudsman discuss draft law On Displaced Persons

On 21 May, chief executives of the Human Rights Ombudsman in the Donetsk People’s Republic attended a session of a People’s Council Committee on Social Affairs and Housing, where draft law On Displaced Persons was under discussion.

The meeting was also attended by representatives of Administration of the Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic, of the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, of the Ministry of Finance, and of the City administration of Donetsk.  At the meeting, amendments to the draft law, proposed by public authorities of the Donetsk People’s Republic, were considered.

In late 2018, the DPR Human Rights Ombudsman submitted the draft law On Displaced Persons to the Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic and to the People’s Council of the Donetsk People’s Republic, exercising the right to appeal to the subjects of legislative initiative. The specified draft law determines the status of displaced persons, establishes economic and social guarantees for the protection of their rights and freedoms in the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic.
