A meeting of Ukrainian prisoners of war with their mothers may take place soon in the DPR. This was announced today by the Head of the DPR delegation at the Minsk talks, chair of the People’s Council Denis Pushilin.

“We have nothing to hide, and I think we will be able to arrange a meeting for the mothers of Ukrainian prisoners of war. This could serve as a motivation for mothers to facilitate the adoption of the amnesty law, when they return to Ukraine. We are ready to release everyone, but not unilaterally. It is possible that the meeting will take place in the near future,” said the speaker of the Parliament, responding to the question of the DAN correspondent.

Pushilin emphasized that, unlike Ukraine, the DPR observes all the standards of detention conditions for POWs.

On August 8, the mothers and wives of Ukrainian soldiers detained in Donbass, led by Ukrainian deputy Nadezhda Savchenko, went on a hunger strike near the presidential administration office. The protest was attended by more than five people. According to the protesters, they are tired of “unsuccessful correspondence” with the Kiev authorities, so they went on a hunger strike, demanding the immediate release of their relatives. According to Ukrainian media, today the relatives of the prisoners stopped the hunger strike and announced their intention to go to Donetsk themselves.

We recall that the Human Rights Ombudsman in the DPR Daria Morozova has repeatedly stated the readiness of the Republic to exchange prisoners in the “all for all” format, provided by the Minsk Package of Measures.
