Pupils of boarding school №3 honored the memory of the defenders of the Republic who fell in the battles for Saur-Mogila

The patriotic event with the symbolic name “Walk of Fame” was organized for the pupils of the Municipal Educational Institution “Boarding School №3 of Donetsk” by an initiative group of Afghan soldiers with the assistance of the Human Rights Ombudsman in the DPR and the Donetsk city administration.

30 children aged 13 to 17 visited the Saur-Mogila memorial complex, located in the territory of Shakhtersk District of the DPR. Children got acquainted with the history of one of the main attractions of the Donetsk region, and also met and talked with the defender of the Republic, a serviceman of the battalion “Vostok”, which defended the legendary height in summer 2014.

The children were informed about the battles for Saur-Mogila between the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the militia of the DPR. They knew about the feat of the defenders of the Republic, who at the cost of their own lives kept control of a strategically important position.

The participants of the event honoured the memory of the servicemen of the Republic who died in the battles for Saur-Mogila with a minute of silence.

The meeting took an important place in the hearts of young citizens of the DPR with pride for their land and a feeling of gratitude to the people who stood up for its defence. Pupils of boarding school №3 thanked the organizers for the trip and expressed hope that such patriotic events will become a tradition.
