In Donetsk, UN human rights representatives visited minors detained on charges of sabotage in Yasinovataia. According to the correspondent of the official website of the Donetsk People’s Republic, the Human Rights Ombudsman in the DPR Daria Morozova was present at the meeting.

“We had a meeting with the detainees. UN representatives received all the information they needed, that is, verified their identity, received contacts of relatives and made sure that they did not suffer from ill-treatment. The detainees admit their guilt. In the course of communication, they told how they were recruited by an employee of the SBU and how he forced them to carry out sabotage activities. According to them, they were scared and worried about their relatives, as some of them live in the territory of Ukraine. It is unfortunate that the Ukrainian side uses such cruel methods of warfare. It’s hard to imagine what is happening to the children on the other side of the contact line,” said the Ombudsman.

She also noted that the issue of recruitment of minors by Ukrainian intelligence will be raised at the Minsk talks. “We have already sent a letter to the OSCE Coordinator of the Humanitarian Subgroup Tony Frisch and contacted the UN OHCHR representatives, who attended the meeting today and requested that all information be passed to UNICEF representatives. At the next meeting in Minsk, this issue will be raised,” Daria Morozova emphasized.
