Today, on July 27, a videoconference dedicated to the Republic’s first Day of Remembrance of the Children-Victims of War in Donbass was held in Donetsk. Its goal is to perpetuate the memory of the children who died during the armed aggression of Ukraine against the civilian population of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics. The event was attended by the parents of the children, who passed away, statesmen, public and political figures, human rights activists representing the DPR, LPR, Russia, Italy and a number of other states.

Human Rights Ombudsman in the DPR Daria Morozova made a report on the situation with the rights of the child in Donbass in the context of hostilities. In her speech, the Ombudsman spoke about the flagrant violations of the rights of children in the region by the Ukrainian authorities, and also noted the importance of publicizing information about the crimes of the Kyiv regime.

“Our duty is to make the world see this shocking truth. By establishing July 27 as the Day of Remembrance of the Children-Victims of War in Donbass, we have not only perpetuated the memory of the tragic events associated with the armed aggression of Ukraine. This date has become irrefutable proof of the genocide of the inhabitants of the region by the Kyiv regime and the need for a liberation struggle against fascism in Ukraine,” Daria Morozova said.

At the end of the conference, the participants unanimously adopted a resolution calling on the world community to immediately influence the political leadership of Ukraine, which purposefully destroys civilian infrastructure and uses the civilian population of Donbass as a “human shield”. This document, with the assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, will be submitted to leading international organizations for consideration.

In addition, within the framework of the conference, a competition for the best sketch of a memorial monument to the dead children of Donbass was announced. A year later, it is planned to install it on the Alley of Angels in Donetsk.

Also during the event, a thematic forged monument was presented by Donetsk blacksmith Viktor Mikhalev. The prototype of the composition was the “Gorlovskaya Madonna” – Kristina Zhuk, who died with her daughter Kira in her arms as a result of the shelling of the armed formations of Ukraine on 27 July 2014. It will be installed and opened in Gorlovka as soon as the security situation allows.
