Yesterday, on March 28, a working meeting was held in Donetsk between the Human Rights Ombudsman in the DPR Daria Morozova and the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Chechen Republic Mansur Soltaev. This is the first dialogue between the Ombudsmen of the two states in person.

During the meeting, human rights defenders shared their views on the events related to the conflict in Donbass and the situation with respect for human rights in this context. In particular, Daria Morozova and Mansur Soltaev roundly condemned the ill-treatment of prisoners of war in Ukraine and the lack of a proper response to the genocide of the Russian-speaking population of the region by the international human rights community.

The DPR Ombudsman told her Chechen colleague about the work on collecting and fixing evidence of war crimes of the AFU, which has been carried out in the Republic since 2014. She also assured that all the materials would be presented within the framework of the future tribunal.

For his part, Mansur Soltaev declared his readiness to fully contribute to this work and provide the necessary support to the residents of the DPR.

“We will support you. The whole country is with you. We pray to the Most High for peace, keep our finger on the pulse and are ready to come to the aid at any moment,” said the chief human rights defender of Chechnya.

In turn, Daria Morozova thanked her colleague, the leadership and the people of the Chechen Republic for their invaluable contribution to the struggle for the freedom and independence of the DPR.

“I am grateful to you, to the leadership of the Chechen Republic, to all the guys who are participating in the special operation today. With your help, we will be able to stop the genocide of the population of Donbass and restore the violated rights of our citizens,” said the Human Rights Ombudsman in the DPR.
