Taking care of children is one of the most important tasks of our government. As the Republic is being established as a legal, democratic and socially-oriented state, special attention should be paid to children with special needs.

Physically challenged children constitute one of the most vulnerable groups of population that needs special support from the state. The Human Rights Ombudsman’s Office makes every effort to provide psychological and social assistance to families raising children with special needs.

On May 4, there was a meeting of mothers of children with disabilities with Dmitry Popov, Chief Administrator of the Ombudsman’s Office, as well as with Sergey Omelechko, representative of the Union of Cossacks of Russia and abroad Warriors, and Anna Solodovnik, a volunteer psychologist at the Ombudsman’s Office. The participants congratulated mothers who raise children with disabilities on the upcoming holidays, and presented gifts to the children.

“In my opinion, such meetings are extremely useful, effective and necessary, as measures for providing support for children with special needs, including support from the Ombudsman’s Office, are discussed in the course of these meetings. The issues are usually discussed in a question-and-answer format, where mothers of children with disabilities directly ask questions that concern them most. Mothers of children with special needs can also receive psychological counseling from specialists”, – commented Dmitry Popov, Chief Administrator of the Human Rights Ombudsman’s Office.
