Comments and statements of the Ombudsman News

Today, March 5, the Human Rights Ombudsman Office in the Donetsk People’s Republic organised a meeting of internally displaced persons and specialists from the Republican Psycho-neurological Hospital – a Centre for Medical and Psychological Assistance, at a temporary accommodation centre in Khartsyzsk.

During the meeting, a free diagnosis of the emotional state of children and adults was conducted to identify psychological problems, to take measures for rehabilitation, adaptation, and socialization of citizens. 57 people received counselling from psychologists and psychiatrists of the Centre, including 15 children.

“Citizens who have lost the ability to live a normal life due to the armed conflict are extremely vulnerable, considering that they have neither a permanent place of residence nor a stable job. It takes time to get used to new living conditions and environment. Problems of adaptation to new conditions primarily affect children, elderly people, and people with disabilities. For these categories of citizens qualified psychological assistance is provided by the Ombudsman Office on a regular basis,” said Chief Administrator of the Ombudsman Office Andrey Kolomiytsev.
