During the fierce battles for the liberation of the city of Artemovsk, Russian servicemen evacuated civilians to the territory of the Lugansk People’s Republic, including spouses with disabilities. During the evacuation, the couple had only some documents with them.
With the help of the Office of the Human Rights Ombudsman in the DPR, the family was moved to the territory of the DPR to a temporary accommodation centre in the city of Shakhtyorsk. The family was provided with hot meals, necessary medical care, additional food packages and essentials with the assistance of the Administration of the city of Shakhtyorsk, the active participation of the regional public reception of the chairman of the party “United Russia” Dmitry Medvedev and Human Rights Ombudsman in the DPR Daria Morozova. Assistance was provided in registration of social payments.
On July 20, employees of the Ombudsman’s Office, together with the NGO “Centre for Regional Development”, delivered a wheelchair to the family, which will enable them to back to their usual lifestyle. Currently, work is underway to apply for citizenship of the Russian Federation.
