On 14 March, Representatives of the DPR Human Rights Ombudsman Office conducted an inspection of the educational process and living conditions in Gorlovka Special General Education Boarding School No.25 At the moment, the school is attended by 96 children with disabilities in need of rehabilitation regarding their physical or mental development.
The institution has 6 blocks with rooms for education, bedrooms, a canteen, a medical unit, a laundry and joinery workshops. Outside there is a football field and a playground.
The institution educates children from 1st to 9th form. The number of students in each group meets the standards. The educational process has been designed to provide effective rehabilitation and carry out prevention measures. To this end, special activities have been organised for children: speech therapy, exercise therapy, rhythmic classes, improvement of psychomotor and sensory systems. The students undergo labour training (joinery and sewing). There is a room for social adaptation, which looks like a one-bedroom flat. Graduates of the boarding school receive a certificate of the established model, which entitles them to enter secondary vocational schools.
There are leisure-time activities such as a club for beadworking, dancing and sports clubs. The pupils actively participate in exhibitions of creative arts, other creative events and competitions, including republican contests. The pieces of creative art made by children and their prizes are on display in the school. Also, there is a “Corner of tribute to the deceased” during the shelling outside the school where celebratory assembly is usually held.
As a result of the inspection, education and living environment for children in the Gorlovka Special General Education Boarding School No. 25 received a positive assessment from the staff of DPR Ombudsman Office.
