INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY RESPONDS TO AFU WAR CRIMES WITH ELOQUENT SILENCE – DARIA MOROZOVA

Comments and statements of the Ombudsman News

Yesterday’s shelling of Donetsk was not only a tragedy and pain for Donbass, but also an indicator… It was the indicator of double standards. Now I’m talking about a targeted strike by Ukrainian militants on the Donetsk Republican Centre for the Protection of Motherhood and Childhood. There were 232 people in the facility. This is the staff, 22 women in labor and 36 newborns. In the building of the maternity hospital, windows and doors were broken, the facade and roof were damaged. Only miraculously, none of the medical workers and patients was injured.

There is an act of terrorism by Ukrainian militants. However, it did not draw the attention of the Western media and international human rights organizations.

Once again, the West has demonstrated its indifference to war crimes. What is even more obvious if we compare the reaction to yesterday’s events in Donetsk and the provocation in the Mariupol maternity hospital on March 9. A fake about an alleged air strike by the Russian military was then disseminated by all Western media without exception. And even when the unreliability of this information and the fact that Ukrainian military personnel was based in the building of the Mariupol maternity hospital were officially confirmed, we did not see any denials or apologies.

But what now? In just one day, Ukrainian militants fired more than 600 units of various ammunition at the DPR. The fire is aimed at peaceful cities, where at the moment mainly there are old people, women and children.

Where is the media? Where is the harsh reaction of international human rights activists? Isn’t it interesting? It seems that these questions have finally passed into the category of rhetorical ones.

Despite everything, I continue to notify officially the UN and the ICRC of every fact of illegal actions of armed formations of Ukraine on the territory of the DPR. I also notified UNICEF about yesterday’s artillery attack on the Republican Centre for the Protection of Motherhood and Childhood.

However, it is obvious that attempts to influence Ukraine in the legal field do not bring the desired results. And if the decision to start a special military operation had not been made in time, Donbass would probably have already been wiped off the face of the earth. The events of the past few days leave no doubt about that.
