The DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko signed a decree pardoning persons, detained in the DPR, introduced for the exchange with the Ukrainian side.

“Today, I signed the Decree of Pardon for people, who will be exchanged tomorrow,” said Zakharchenko.

The DPR Head added that according to the preliminary agreement, the prisoner’s exchange procedure is scheduled for tomorrow, 01:00 pm. According to Zakharchenko, representatives of church will be present at the exchange.

“Tomorrow representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate and of the Russian Orthodox Church will be present at the exchange, ” said the DPR Head.

Shortly before, Zakharchenko visited the capital of the Russian Federation, where he had a peacekeeping meeting with Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill, and announced that the exchange of prisoners between DPR, LPR and Ukraine would take place on December 27, under the formula “306 for 74”. Head of the Republic expressed hope that the Ukrainian side would keep to conditions of the exchange.

To be reminded, the exchange of prisoners between Ukraine and the Republics of Donbass was last held in Autumn 2016. Since then, it was impossible to agree on a new exchange: the Ukrainian side constantly protracted the process, creating new obstacles and excuses. The progress was observed in mid-November of this year. The President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with the Head the DPR Alexander Zakharchenko. An initiative of the leader of movement “Ukrainian choice – the right of the people” Victor Medvedchuk regarding the exchange was discussed. Later, the DPR stated that it was entirely ready for the procedure, and informed that the exchange of prisoners would transpire before the end of this year.
