Greeting from DPR Ombudsman on the International Friendship Day

Today, July 30, International Friendship Day is celebrated. This holiday was established by the resolution of the UN General Assembly and is celebrated every year since 2011. The resolution stresses the importance of a new holiday in strengthening friendly relations between nations: “Friendship between peoples, countries, cultures and individuals can become the inspiration for peace efforts and provide an opportunity to build bridges between nations that respect cultural diversity.”

The celebration of the International Friendship Day is especially relevant and important for Donbass residents in the current political situation. Only through joint efforts, we can make our region a peaceful and prosperous place where a friendly and tolerant attitude towards each other will become a goal embodied in reality. A constructive dialogue based on solidarity, mutual understanding and reconciliation, friendly relations between peoples would promote this process.

Dear citizens of the Donetsk People’s Republic! I sincerely and wholeheartedly congratulate you on the International Friendship Day. On this Day I wish you to have the support and kind advice of your mates in any situation, to live with strong friendship and hope in your heart.
