On 11 June, a team of experts came to Zugres to take an application from relatives of a missing military volunteer.

The team included representatives of the DPR Human Rights Ombudsman Office, a Chairperson of the Public Organization “Union of mothers of missing sons” Kristina Kruglenko and the Head of the Republican Bureau of Forensic Medical Examination of the DPR Dmitry Kalashnikov.

“Our organization received an application from the mother of a military volunteer Nikolai Murashko, who went missing in August 2014 in Ilovaisk. Since the applicant’s physical condition does not allow her to move independently, a field commission was organized to sign consent on processing of personal data. In response to our request, representatives of the Republican Bureau of Forensic Medical Examination of the DPR came with us in order to conduct expertise and carry out some medical procedures. Usually, the applications are filed personally by the applicant in the office of our organization. The field team visits applicants at their place of residence only in case of a challenging physical condition,” said Kristina Kruglenko, Chairperson of the Public Organization “Union of mothers of missing sons”.

She specified that one may file an application on a missing person at the following address: 1 Maryinskaia Str., Donetsk, room 4. All services are provided free of charge.

“Due to the difficult health condition of the mother of the missing serviceman, we came to her place to take the DNA samples, having received a corresponding request from her. Also, a staff member of our bureau provided psychological assistance to the applicant and clarified all the necessary details. During the war, a database of unidentified dead bodies was formed for further identification. A DNA database has also been created. We accept applications, work with first-degree relatives, conduct medical procedures and examination for a genetic match. Anyone who needs such assistance can contact us. We provide all services free of charge,” said Dmitry Kalashnikov, the Head of the Republican Bureau of Forensic Medical Examination of the DPR.
