Exchange of prisoners between Donbass and Kiev may take place by the end of the year: everything depends on readiness of Ukraine

Comments and statements of the Ombudsman Media News

This was announced by DPR Human Rights Ombudsman Daria Morozova.

“Technically, it is quite possible. At the moment, the Ukrainian side has full information on the status of all POW in the territory of Ukraine. They know how many of them have been sentenced. Accordingly, there should be no problem to prepare requests for pardon… The only thing needed is Kiev’s political will to do so,” she said.

Morozova is confident that technical issues would’ve taken no more than a couple of weeks, provided that the Ukrainian side is willing to cooperate.

There are no certain figures yet.

“We cannot announce any certain figures at the moment. Only if the Ukrainian side has stopped to work on it. We continue to work on the Ukrainian list. Now there are 88 people confirmed by the Ukrainian side and 53 of those confirmed by the DPR. The figure is not final, we continue to work on it,” Morozova added.
