The representative of the Donetsk People’s Republic in the Humanitarian Subgroup at the peace negotiations on Donbass in Minsk Daria Morozova said she was ready to get down to work and discuss the prisoner exchange at the next meeting with the new representatives of Kiev.
Earlier DPR representatives said that the following round of negotiations on peaceful settlement in Donbass in Minsk had been rescheduled at the request of Kiev from May 22 to June 5.
“I look forward to the meeting on June 5th. I hope that by this time the negotiators from the Ukrainian side will be appointed. We, of course, are going there to propose the exchange of all confirmed for all confirmed. We have got clear lists, so now it’s time to get down to work. We can discuss all the information and all the lists during the following negotiations. Since the work has been blocked for about one and a half years, there is a possibility that some persons have already been released or refuse to be exchanged,” Morozova told reporters.
The Ombudsman explained that it is too early to make predictions because of the change of representatives of Kiev at the talks. There are concerns over the words of the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky about the cease-fire in Donbass and the prisoner exchange because so far there have been no prerequisites for the implementation of these points.
The latest exchange between Kiev and Donbass took place in late December 2017. Parties to the conflict claimed that the exchange process would be continued.
Earlier, in his inauguration speech, the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky set the objective of returning prisoners. In response, the DPR Ombudsman said she was waiting for specific proposals from Kiev on this matter.
