Comments and statements of the Ombudsman Media News

Donetsk will present its own vision on the mechanism to search for the missing at the next round of Minsk talks (12 February), DPR Ombudsman Daria Morozova told DAN.

“Now the Ombudsman’s Office is preparing a roadmap. Soon it will be presented in Minsk, where we will discuss it as part of the meeting of the Humanitarian Subgroup on 12 February,” the interlocutor said.

She reminded that at the last meeting of the Humanitarian Subgroup the negotiators agreed to present their vision on the process of search for missing persons. Based on these documents, the sides must develop a single mechanism.

As the International Committee of the Red Cross noted earlier, the search for missing persons in the conflict zone can take a while. According to the latest data available to the DPR Ombudsman, up to 500 people are considered missing. DPR authorities do not exclude that they may be in Ukrainian captivity.
