DPR to accept refugees from Kiev-controlled areas

Comments and statements of the Ombudsman News

Authorities of the Donetsk People’s Republic are ready to host citizens who decided to leave areas controlled by Kiev due to the introduction of martial law, says representative of the DPR Ombudsman Office.

Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada approved the decision of the President Petro Poroshenko to impose martial law. The special regime will be introduced in ten oblasts for 30 days from the taking of the decision.

“If the migration flow from the territory of Ukraine increases in connection with the aggressive policy of the Ukrainian authorities towards the civilian population, the Republic is ready to accept everyone. Citizens can find accommodation themselves or, if they need, move into one of the social housing objects. To do so, they must approach the Territorial Commission,” said representative of the DPR Ombudsman Office.

Staff of DPR Ombudsman Office noted that the rights and freedoms of a person and citizen are recognized and respected in the territory of the DPR in accordance with generally accepted principles and norms of international law and in line with the Constitution of the DPR.
