DPR opened the checkpoint “Elenovka” for exit citizens to Ukraine

Comments and statements of the Ombudsman Media News

Donetsk chose for the opening the checkpoint “Elenovka”, since it is equipped with all necessary facilities for comfortable crossing the Contact Line. The human rights Ombudsman in DPR, the representative of the Republic in the Minsk Humanitarian Subgroup Daria Morozova stated about it today.

“This checkpoint (“Elenovka”) is well equipped, there is a big traffic capacity, it has all necessary for comfortable crossing the border”, Morozova said to journalists.

She also added that the opening of the checkpoint is forced measure. The government of DPR did it because the Ukrainian side has been refusing the direct dialogue with the Republic on the conceptual design of opening the checkpoint for about two months. According to Morozova, during the last week, five letters with the proposals on mutual opening the checkpoint and the notification of today’s opening were sent.

Earlier today, DPR opened the checkpoint “Elenovka” south of Donetsk.

It’s should be noted that at the checkpoint “Elenovka”, the large-scale modernization took place in 2019. On the ground in 10 thousand square meters, the prefabricated office accommodations were set, which, according to the project, will increase, presumably, in five times traffic capacity on the checkpoint. There are toilets, emergency room, a center of administrative services, parking, a landscaped adjacent territory in the updated complex.
