Today, on 23 May, in the advance of the International Children’s Day DPR Ombudsman Office staff conducted a lecture devoted to children’s rights in order to raise legal awareness of students of 7th and 8th forms of a State Budget General Educational Institution “Republican Multidisciplinary Boarding School “Grigorievskaya Shkola” of the DPR Ministry of Education and Science.
Chief Administrator of the DPR Ombudsman Office Andrey Kolomiytsev gave an opening address before the students. “Human rights is an important aspect of our life. The study of the system of rights and duties promotes the improvement of a legal culture and raises your level of education,” said Andrey Kolomiytsev.
At the lecture representatives of the Ombudsman Office familiarized the students with basic provisions of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and provided examples of realisation of these rights in the everyday life.
Also, they highlighted the importance of studying a system of rights and freedoms and reminded students about responsibilities and obligations. At the end of the event, children had the opportunity to ask questions from human rights defenders and get the answers.
