Today, on February 19, a regular meeting was held in closed session between DPR Human Rights Ombudsman Daria Morozova, Head of Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Ukraine Alain Aeschlimann and Head of ICRC Office in Donetsk Michel Saad.
At the meeting, the second stage of the prisoner exchange was discussed as well as main obstacles to its implementation and arguments put forward by the Ukrainian side.
Apart from the above, the release of citizens of the Russian Federation, whom the Ukrainian side refused to release by excluding them unilaterally from the exchange list, was discussed. We remind that those people can be transferred either to the territory of the DPR or to the embassy of the Russian Federation. There were precedents in that regard with citizens of Brazil, Afghanistan and some other countries.
Once again Daria Morozova drew the attention of ICRC representatives to the issue of documents that Ukraine must return to persons transferred to the Republic as a result of the exchange.
