DPR Ombudsman fears for life of Yulia Prosolova arbitrary arrested in Mariupol

Comments and statements of the Ombudsman Detention News

The Human Rights Ombudsman in the Donetsk People’s Republic Daria Morozova fears for life and health of Yulia Prosolova, a resident of Donetsk detained in Mariupol on suspicion of murder of Alexander Kharaberyush, the Colonel of the Security Service of Ukraine.

“We are worried, whether she is alive, and if so, then what Yulia Prosolova’s health condition is. She was detained by the SSU on October 19. Since that moment, neither staff of international organizations, including the ICRC and the UN, were allowed to visit her, nor her lawyer, nor her mother, who went to Kiev to hand over some things and medicines to her,” Morozova said.

The Ombudsman stressed that Ukrainian authorities refused to allow the girl’s relatives to legally hand over her personal belongings, explaining these actions by the “order of superiors.”

We recall that on October 31, 2017 it became known that a resident of Donetsk Yulia Prosolova had been arrested on suspicion of murder of Alexander Kharaberyush, the Colonel of the Security Service of Ukraine, whose car was blown up in the centre of Mariupol on March 31, 2017. According to Chairman of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasiliy Grytsak, the woman allegedly worked for Ministry of State Security of the DPR, however this information was rebutted by the Ministry.
