On 22 June a working meeting of the DPR Ombudsman Daria Morozova and the Head of the UN Monitoring Mission in Ukraine Fiona Frazer took place.

At the meeting, reports by the UN MM on the human rights situation in Ukraine and individual cases of human rights violation on both sides of the contact line were discussed. The issue of access to Monitoring Mission representatives to detainees and sentenced persons, who serve their sentence in penitentiary facilities of the Republic, was also raised. Daria Morozova promised to provide full support in accordance with the existing legislation, in order to show the openness of the Donetsk People’s Republic and transparency in observance of rights and freedoms of citizens.

Daria Morozova raised again the issue of refusal of the Ukrainian side to sign the Declaration condemning all forms of torture, ill-treatment, sexual violence and threats of violence against persons detained in connection with the conflict. Fiona Frazer thanked the Ombudsman for her genuine desire to ensure observance of human rights.

At the end of the meeting, DPR Ombudsman and the Head of the UN Monitoring Mission in Ukraine expressed mutual respect and gratitude for a fruitful cooperation.
