DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko signed a decree extending the Donbass people reunification humanitarian programme into 2018. The document was published by the Republic’s official news portal on Tuesday.

“Given inseparable social, cultural, economic and professional ties between the Donbass people, and the objective to support and strengthen them as well as to provide social support to DPR residents living in the territory temporarily controlled by Ukraine, I decree to approve the Donbass people reunification humanitarian programme for 2018,” the document said.

According to the document, acting DPR Foreign Minister Natalia Nikonorova is responsible for coordinating programme implementation. DPR Council of Ministers Deputy Chairman Dmitriy Trapeznikov will oversee implementation of the decree.

DPR has been implementing the humanitarian programme since 17 February 2017. It provides for medical, financial and legal assistance, quotas for higher and vocational education for residents of Kiev-held areas, and their involvement, together with DPR residents, in sport and cultural events, as well as awareness-raising activities to preserve spiritual and cultural values in the region.
