DPR comment on health state of Russian citizen detained by Ukraine

Comments and statements of the Ombudsman Detention News

The state of health of a Russian citizen, detained by Ukrainian special services in the spring of 2016 at the Ukrainian-Russian border, has deteriorated, said the DPR Ombudsman Daria Morozova.

“One of the Russians… he was born in 1946. His health condition is quite poor. His leg is getting paralyzed. He was detained at the post on the border with Russia without any reasonable grounds… Ukraine has fully politicized all issues on the agenda, and the exchange between Ukraine and the Russian Federation is one of them. They are trying to involve Russia in the internal conflict in Ukraine, so they found such a stumbling block. Ukraine is trying to intimidate as they have Russian citizens,” said Morozova.

She explained that about 18 Russian citizens have been released through the prisoner exchange since the beginning of the conflict.
