The next group of common prisoners sentenced before the conflict in Donbass will soon be transferred to Ukraine, Human Rights Ombudsman Daria Morozova told to a correspondent of the Federal News Agency.

“The transfer of convicts to Ukraine is scheduled to be held shortly,” she said. “Those are common prisoners sentenced before the conflict. Under the Decree of the Head of DPR, a transfer of pre-conflict detainees to Ukraine began in 2016. Last time, on 13 December 2018, we transferred 13 persons. We hope to hand over this group. At least, there is a high probability to do it faster”.

The source added that DPR transfer the convicts as a gesture of goodwill.

“We’ve already managed to transfer 199 persons,” said representative of the Ombudsman Office. According to him, there is no firm date for the procedure yet. LPR is going to transfer their group of convicts earlier. “There is no exact date, but I believe it will happen quite soon. Lugansk is going to perform it a bit earlier,” the source said to FAN.

Meanwhile, at the last meeting of the Contact Group in Minsk on 1 February 2019, data on prisoners of war was updated.

“As of 1 February 2019, the Ukrainian side is holding 252 persons in their custody, including 101 persons confirmed by them,” said representatives of the Ombudsman Office. “13 persons were removed from the exchange list, because they have served their sentences. Three persons were added from the list where information is pending clarification by the Ukrainian side. And there are 151 persons in the list where information is pending clarification by the Ukrainian side”.

“7 persons were removed from the list, because they have served their sentences,” they added.
