Today, 15 June, the Human Rights Ombudsman in the Donetsk People’s Republic Daria Morozova held a working meeting with a Deputy Chair of the UN Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances Tae-Ung Baik.
Daria Morozova told about the present situation with regard to the search of persons who went missing as a result of the conflict, to the prisoner exchange, transfer of convicts, the work of the humanitarian subgroup in Minsk. Also, issues of assistance to persons affected by the conflict were discussed.
The Ombudsman told about the roadmap on the search for missing persons, developed in cooperation with the ICRC. Daria Morozova stressed that it is impossible to start the joint work because the Ukrainian side blocks the issue resolution insisting in the involvement of representatives of a third party in the process.
Tae-Ung Baik and other representatives of the UN Working Group appreciated Daria Morozova’s openness and commitment to observance of the rights and freedoms.
