Daria Morozova comments the desire of Ukrainian Ombudsman to visit DPR in the interview to “Komsomolskaya Pravda”

Comments and statements of the Ombudsman News

Lyudmila Denisova, the newly elected Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Commissioner for Human Rights, said she was going to visit Donbass and Crimea that are outside of the control of Kiev, says her official website.

“ The statements of Lyudmila Denisova push Ukraine and the Donetsk People’s Republic further apart. As soon as she took office, she said she would be a good Ombudsman, because … she participated in “Maidan” rally. As a matter of fact, the war in Donbass started as a result of “Maidan”… Denisova supported the military coup in Kiev, which caused four years of bloodshed, – says DPR Ombudsman Daria Morozova. – the Law “On the Human rights Ombudsman in the Donetsk People’s Republic” is in force since December 2014. I take all efforts to ensure respect for the rights of our citizens. We work closely with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and other international organizations”.

We are ready to cooperate with the Ombudsman Office of Ukraine. There are many open issues – search for the missing, beating and torture of DPR supporters in Ukrainian prisons, violation of the rights of IDPs and refugees in Ukraine. However, we haven’t received any official proposals from Kiev.

” It is unfortunate that Mrs. Valeria Lutkovskaya had to leave office, – says Daria Vasilievna. – We have established cooperation based on the Minsk venue, as well as bilateral negotiations. By the way, the possibility of the visit of the former Ukrainian Ombudsman to Donbass Republics was already discussed in Minsk. Therefore, we do not mind Lyudmila Denisova visiting our Republic, but only provided that I can also visit the parts of Donbass region, controlled by Kiev. In particular, I would like to inspect Ukrainian prisons. At the same time, my safety should be guaranteed by the OSCE Mission during the visit to Donetsk oblast. If this condition is acceptable for Ukraine, then we can discuss the details.

I must remind you that Kiev unleashed the armed conflict in Donbass in March 2014. All who opened fire against DPR and LPR citizens must be brought before the Hague Tribunal. They violated the Constitution of their own country – it forbids shooting at their peaceful citizens! It is noteworthy that the human rights organizations of Ukraine completely ignored these facts at that time”.
