Today, June 28, a working meeting between the Human Rights Ombudsman in the DPR Daria Morozova and the Head of the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine Matilda Bogner took place online.
Daria Morozova briefed the Head of Mission on the current human rights situation in the territory of the DPR and highlighted issues on which cooperation between the republican human rights institution and UN representatives would be relevant.
In particular, the Ombudsman informed about the ongoing shelling of peaceful cities of the Republic by Ukrainian armed formations and spoke about the facts of war crimes of Ukraine revealed in the course of work in the liberated territories. Also, Daria Morozova focused on the provocation of the AFU in the drama theatre of Mariupol.
In addition, the Ombudsman drew the attention of Matilda Bogner to the critical situation with respect for the rights of prisoners in Ukraine. And she stressed the need to take urgent response measures to prevent torture, ill-treatment and humiliation of the detained participants of the special military operation in the future.
The head of the UN Monitoring Mission for Human Rights in Ukraine thanked the DPR Ombudsman for the information provided during the meeting. The parties expressed their openness to further cooperation.
