Comment of the Head of the Department for Citizens’ Appeals of the Ombudsman’s Office Anna Priymachuk on the occasion of the second anniversary of establishment of the Human Rights Institution

Comments and statements of the Ombudsman News

Handling citizens’ appeals is a hard and painstaking work. At the same time, it is an important source of information about facts of violation of legitimate interests and rights of people. Every day citizens who experience some life difficulties address the Ombudsman’s Office.

Each new appeal is a contribution to the improvement of the Ombudsman’s Institution and the professionalism of its team. Many of citizens’ issues are resolved at the local level, aided by the Ombudsman.

None of the appeals are ever ignored, so that we reassure our citizens that their rights and freedoms are under reliable protection. For each appeal, competent specialists provide clarifications and advice. There are cases when it is enough to listen and provide the necessary information and legal advice. It should be noted that the socio-economic situation in the Donetsk People’s Republic has improved during the recent period, as evidenced by a decrease in the number of applications received by citizens.

Without any doubt, the establishment of the institution of the Human Rights Ombudsman in the Donetsk People’s Republic was necessary, because its activities are significant and large-scale. Without exception, all authorities and officials should be interested in the development of the institution of the Human Rights Ombudsman, because all these bodies and officials, including the Ombudsman herself, must participate in the construction of the human rights area of responsibility in the Republic.
