Comment from Human Rights Ombudsman in the Donetsk People’s Republic Daria Morozova on death of children as a result of mine explosion near Mayorsk checkpoint

Comments and statements of the Ombudsman News

The tragedy that occurred today can leave no one indifferent, nither a Donbass citizen nor any other person. We feel heartfelt sorrow for all children who died as a result of the armed aggression of Ukraine, but the today’s case is especially illustrative.

The actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have shown again that they are directed against Donbass citizens and are contrary to a peaceful settlement of the conflict as envisaged in Minsk Agreements. The disregard by Ukrainian authorities of the Geneva Conventions with regard to the protection of civilians at the time of war leads to more and more civilian casualties in Donbass.

In this regard, I call on the international community again to facilitate in every possible way that Ukraine observe the Package of Measures for the Implementation of the Minsk Agreements and other responsibilities undertaken.
