Comment from Daria Morozova on the adopting of the Resolution of a global ceasefire to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic by the UN Security Council

Comments and statements of the Ombudsman News

There is no more horrible, unjust and destroying phenomenon in this world than never-ending war. It is a terrible tragedy of peoples and states, because of which innocent people suffer most of all.

Thus, according to UNICEF, more than 200 thousand children die every year because of wars and terroristic attacks. Just think that war takes away 500 children’s lives a day. I won’t mention the statistic of injuries and traumas, events of slavery and torture as a result of wars, – it is also dismal.

Today, with endless wars humanity faces with the new not less formidable “killer” – the COVID-19 pandemic. The coronavirus has already taken more than half of a million lives around the world. This enemy may be defeated only through joint efforts, discarding all contradictions and conflicts.

I totally support, in this regard, and highlight the importance of adoption on 1 July 2020 of the Resolution of a global ceasefire for 3 months by UN Security Council.  Also, I call Ukraine to draw its attention to this resolution and to start making more active steps for the early implementation of all points, prescribed by the “Minsk agreements”, to coordinate collaboratively addressing humanitarian issues, appearing on the Contact Line. Nowadays humanity has faced with the common question of survival. It shouldn’t be forgotten that we are responsible for the lives and destinies of our citizens.
